Rebecca
Hewes has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts throughout the
UK and abroad. Born in 1983, she studied at Chetham’s School of Music, the Royal
Northern College of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated
in 2005 with first-class honours. Her teachers have included Hannah Roberts, David
Smith and Phillip Sheppard. During her time at the Royal Academy Rebecca also
extensively studied Baroque Cello with Jennifer Ward-Clarke.
Rebecca
has appeared in chamber music festivals and concert series throughout the country
and overseas, performing in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall and Bridgewater
Hall, and abroad as Artist in Residence for the Indaba New Music Festival 2008
in South Africa. She has performed many of the major Cello Concerto works across
the UK and throughout Europe, with concerto tours of Ireland, France and Spain.

addition to her long-standing cello and piano duo with pianist Russell Hepplewhite,
Rebecca performs regularly with a number of distinguished ensembles. With the
Nephele Ensemble, recent winners of the Tunnell Trust Awards, she has appeared
in many prestigious venues including St. David's Hall Cardiff. As the cellist
of Svyati Duo, of which Sir John Tavener is patron, she has a busy concert diary
with organist Julian Collings, performing a wide range of unusual and exciting
orginal repertoire for the rarely-heard combination of cello and organ. Their
recording on the Regent Records Label is due to be commercially released in February

Cello
and Piano Duo Rebecca Hewes (cello) Russell Hepplewhite (piano) Rebecca
Hewes and Russell Hepplewhite formed their cello and piano duo seven years ago,
and have since accumulated a vast repertoire which they have performed together
in many concerts and masterclasses. They are regularly invited to appear in prestigious
concert series' and festivals, and have performed extensively throughout the UK.
In 2004 were selected to appear as featured artists in the Concordia Foundation's
International Concert Series, which resulted in a number of prestigious recitals
and collaborations with other artists. More recently they were shortlisted for
the Park Lane Group series at the Southbank Centre. In addition to their concerts
in the UK, their overseas engagements have taken them to Poland and Portugal.
Rebecca and Russell also perform together in larger ensembles, with recent concerts
including Schoenberg Pierrot Lunaire, Messiaen Quartet for the End of Time, and
the Brahms piano trios and clarinet trio.

Ensemble Nicola Smedley (flute), Samantha Wickramasinghe (violin), Jessica
Beeston (viola), Rebecca Hewes (cello) Formed in 2007 the Nephele Ensemble
has established a reputation for fine performances, with engagements together
taking them to venues and concert series' such as St. David's Hall, Cardiff and
the Leeds International Concert Season. They recently commissioned a new work
'Aerial' for flute quartet by the distinguished composer Timothy Salter. In October
2009 the Nephele Ensemble won the Tunnell Trust Awards, and now look forward to
giving numerous recitals througout Scotland.

Duo Klio Blonz (flute) Rebecca Hewes (cello) Klio and Rebecca founded
their flute and cello duo in 2006, and have since performed together as a duo
and as part of a larger ensemble in venues throughout the UK and abroad. They
are in continuing demand for high-profile corporate events, promotions, recordings
and receptions, whilst their recent concert engagements include performances at
the Drill Hall, Lincoln, Burgh House, the Hellenic Centre and St. James's Church,
Piccadilly. Klio Blonz studied at the Paris Conservatoire and Trinity College
of Music, and has performed extensively both as a soloist and ensemble player
in France, Greece, Bulgaria, Ireland and the UK. She has appeared with numerous
orchestras and ensembles, and recent performances include concerts at the St John's
Smith Square, the Royal Festival Hall, Burgh House, the Foundling Museum, London,
and the American College of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Duo Cello and Organ duo Rebecca Hewes (cello) Julian Collings (organ)
Patron: Sir John Tavener Formed in 2009, Svyati Duo take their name from their
first collaboration as cellist and conductor in a performance of Tavener's masterpiece
Svyati for choir and cello solo. Since then Rebecca Hewes and Julian Collings
have established a tremendous rapport as the only regular cello and organ duo
in the UK, gaining an outstanding reputation for their innovative concerts. Sir
John Tavener became their patron in 2009, and the duo now pursue a busy concert
schedule, taking their seldom heard instumental combination to venues across the
United Kingdom, Europe and the United States of America. Their tireless search
for repertoire has rewarded them with many unjustly neglected works, some of which
they have now recorded on a disc for Regent Records.
