The Isle of Axholme Orchestra was formed in September 2000 as part of South
Axholme Community School's "Arts in the Community" programme generated
by the school's achieving 'Arts College' status. The
Isle of Axholme Orchestra is not a youth orchestra but an amateur orchestra for
players of all ages, who are keen to play orchestral music together. It provides
an orchestral opportunity for instrumental players from a wide area. From the
beginning it has been guided, encouraged and developed by its conductor. The
orchestra gives three concerts each year, two of them in South Axholme Community
School and a third in a community venue in the area. In recent years this has
been held in the John Leggot College in Scunthorpe. The
Orchestra rehearses on Tuesdays in the School Hall at South Axholme Community
School, in Epworth, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Click

Waites aims to re-capture the music and splendour of Lincoln's First Municipal
Band. (Historically, Waites were the Mayor's Band and performed at all civic functions).
The re-created
Lincoln Waites' repertoire is music from the Renaissance and Late Medieval
period. Waites play reproductions of period instruments and wear historically
correct clothing.
If you usually play Oboe or Bassoon, the Shawm would
be an ideal instrument for you. If you can play Trombone or other Brass, the
Sackbut or Cornett employs similar techniques. If
you are interested in expanding your musical experience by joining Lincoln Waites,
please contact Allister. |
