From the beginning it has been guided, encouraged and developed by its conductor.

The orchestra gives three concerts each year, two of them in South Axholme Community School and a third in a community venue in the area. In recent years this has been held in the John Leggot College in Scunthorpe.

The Orchestra rehearses on Tuesdays in the School Hall at South Axholme Community School, in Epworth, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.         Click HERE for Map

The Lincoln Concert Orchestra was formed in 1944 by John Bonner, a lay vicar in the Cathedral Choir. The Orchestra has continued to develop ever since, bringing a wide range of music to the community. It has a long history of concert successes, the proceeds of which have always gone to local or national charities.

Whilst the Orchestra has a nucleus of experienced players, it is always keen to welcome new members of all ages. Dedication is the prime qualification for entry.

Website (Historical Research): www.lincolnwaites.org.uk/

Lincoln Waites aims to re-capture the music and splendour of Lincoln's First Municipal Band. (Historically, Waites were the Mayor's Band and performed at all civic functions).

The re-created Lincoln Waites' repertoire is music from the Renaissance and Late Medieval period. Waites play reproductions of period instruments and wear historically correct clothing.

If you usually play Oboe or Bassoon, the Shawm would be an ideal instrument for you.
If you can play Trombone or other Brass, the Sackbut or Cornett employs similar techniques.

If you are interested in expanding your musical experience by joining Lincoln Waites, please contact Allister.
