Web Page

St Paul's Parish Church, Morton, Nr Gainsborough
is a nineteenth century church built in the Early English style.

Built in 1845 it was enlarged, retaining
just the tower of the original building, in 1891.

The church is endowed with magnificent
stained glass windows by the famous author and artist
William Morris to the designs of Burne-Jones.

These Morris windows are not only rare in this country,
but also in Christendom.

They depict the Apostles and Evangelists,

The stoning of
St. Stephen

the Adoration of the Shepherds

St. Paul preaching on Mars Hill

Saints and Leaders of the Church.

St Hugh of Avalon
Bishop of Lincoln

The general beauty of the building,
the very generous fittings,
the fine organ,

the font of Black Cumberland marble with its ornate counterbalanced cover,
make this church a unique feature of Lincolnshire
.
